Spend a half day at Common Farm Flowers in Somerset, where their 3/4 acre wildflower meadow has been created with loving care and attention over the past twelve years.
See the meadow in full flower, look at the species which flourish there, work out how you too can take the lessons that Fabrizio Boccha and Georgie Newbery have learned during the creation of this wonderful space, and create your own meadow. Whether you want to turn a narrow strip of land into a haven for birds and butterflies, or have an actual meadow you want to return to a flowery state, Georgie and Fabrizio will advise and encourage you.
During the course of the workshop you will:
Tour the meadows at Common Farm Flowers
Look at their different environments and learn about how the earth is managed to encourage perennial wild flower species to flourish there
Sow wildflower seeds so that you'll have plug plants to plant into your own meadow land in September
Take home lists of reliable suppliers of wildflower seeds/plug plants
We have lost 90% of our wildflower meadows in the UK since WWII. Be part of the movement to reestablish our native wildflower species, a beautiful way to feed some of the most vulnerable species on the food chain.
This is a half day workshop (10am - 1pm) and there will be a maximum of 10 people attending each session.
Please note that workshops at Common Farm Flowers may take place outside, under cover of our sail, or in a well ventilated barn, as well as out on the farm (where there is no cover!) Please wear clothes suitable for the weather (layers, waterproof clothes) and bring shoes / boots that are designed to walk on rough grassy paths.
Please bring your own drinks and snacks along to the workshop if needed.
When booking a workshop place, our website will force you to choose a delivery date. Please choose any random date - we will know what workshop you want to join regardless of the delivery date!
Also note that we will be in touch a few days before the workshop with your joining instructions. If you’ve not received this email 48 hours beforehand please email email@example.com but do please first check your junk / spam items and make sure you are checking the inbox of the email address you used to book your place.
Most of our flowers and foliage are grown on our flower farm in Somerset. During some of the winter months we order flowers from our flower farming friends in other parts of the country. We only ever use British grown flowers. Our flowers are cut from the farm fresh each morning, before being arranged and sent for next day delivery.
Because our flowers are picked fresh each day, each of our bouquets is totally unique. Although we can't guarantee a particular flower or colour scheme in your bouquet please let us know if you have any particular requests and we will do our best to meet them. We promise that your bouquet will be fresh and beautiful.
