A day playing with all the bounty of Georgie’s amazing flower farm garden, turning her huge studio barn into a completely flowery bower. The flowers for this day of floristry will be all freshly cut from the garden.
While taking you on a tour of her cut flower gardens, Georgie will explain how best to cut and condition garden-grown flowers for everything from creating a tiny posy to a hanging installation. Then, with Georgie’s help and demonstration, you’ll turn our workshop space into a floral fantasia with (for example) garlanding, posies for the table, pedestal vases for the table, a large urn arrangement, and a fabulous arch for the entrance. This will all be done with fresh garden flowers and vases.
There will be no floral foam in the work you create, but there will be moss, wire, clever use of containers and branches, sand, newspaper… all sorts of clever tricks which will help you see that all kinds of stunning floral displays can be created without the use of floral foam.
This is a day for the amateur as well as the pro florist, anyone who loves to play with flowers, see how they can work with garden flowers, anyone who just loves to bring the garden inside to create a breathtaking fantasia.
The workshop takes place between 10am-3pm at Common Farm, BA9 8HN.
The cost includes lunch at a local farm shop, so please advise us of any food allergies / intolerances at the time of booking. Please bring your own drinks (water / hot drinks flasks etc) and any mid morning / afternoon snacks you might like.
There will be a maximum of 9 people on the workshop.
The cost of the workshop includes all materials you will need to use on the day. You will be able to take lots of flowers away with you at the end to play with at home.
Please note that workshops at Common Farm Flowers are taking place outside where it is easier to maintain social distancing, both under cover of our sail and out on the farm (where there is no cover!) Please wear clothes suitable for the weather (layers, waterproof clothes) and bring shoes / boots that are designed to walk on rough grassy paths.
Most of our flowers and foliage are grown on our flower farm in Somerset. During some of the winter months we order flowers from our flower farming friends in other parts of the country. We only ever use British grown flowers. Our flowers are cut from the farm fresh each morning, before being arranged and sent for next day delivery.
Because our flowers are picked fresh each day, each of our bouquets is totally unique. Although we can't guarantee a particular flower or colour scheme in your bouquet please let us know if you have any particular requests and we will do our best to meet them. We promise that your bouquet will be fresh and beautiful.
