Weddings by Georgie Newbery of Common Farm Flowers

Fresh, locally grown flowers for your wedding
If you want wedding flowers that are locally grown, seasonal, and have a low carbon footprint, we can help.
Our flowers are grown on our flower farm, between Bruton and Wincanton in Somerset, and are available from April to October. We cut to order for each wedding and limit the number of events we book to ensure each of our customers gets the very best from the farm for their special occasion.
Our flowers have the movement, scent and detail that come from freshly harvested flowers, rather than those imported from overseas.
About our flower farm
Common Farm Flowers sits on seven acres, with around three acres dedicated to flowers and shrubs for cutting. The rest of the land is managed for wildlife, with woodland, orchards, wildflower meadows, ponds, composting areas and plenty of natural and untouched habitats.
This approach gives us a rich and varied supply of stems throughout our growing season, and ensures we also provide for the wildlife that lives alongside us.
What wedding flowers do we offer
We focus on making wedding flowers affordable, accessible and straightforward.
Most of our work is for small weddings and DIY couples who want natural, seasonal flowers without a large installation service. Often we will create the bridal bouquet, bridesmaids’ posies and buttonholes, while couples order mixed buckets of cut flowers to arrange for their venue themselves.
All our flowers are British, seasonal and grown here on the farm in Somerset. From April to early October the beds are planned to be in full flower, and everything for your order is cut fresh with your colour palette and arrangements in mind.
Because we farm as artisans and not as a monoculture, we grow small quantities of many different plants. This gives you a wide range of focal flowers, fillers, foliage and detailed accents that create a relaxed, garden-style look in the arrangements they are used for.
The area we cover
If your wedding or event is near the BA9 postcode area, we are well placed to supply your flowers. Our flower farm is close to the Wiltshire and Dorset borders. We are near to venues in Frome, Castle Cary, Sherborne, Shaftesbury and Gillingham.
The collection of flowers from the farm is simple. We are just off the B3081 between the Tinkers’ Hill interchange on the A303 and Charlton Musgrove. If you are travelling to a venue slightly further away, you may still be able to collect a wedding flower order from us as part of your journey, as long as you have enough room in your vehicle to transport them.
If you live outside our area, there are a growing number of local flower farmers who may be able to help you. You can find local growers here.
DIY wedding flowers
Many of our couples choose DIY flowers because it saves money and because they’d like to do the arranging of the flowers themselves, alongside friends and family. We encourage this hands-on approach and support couples who want to be involved in creating their own wedding flowers.
If you prefer not to make the bridal bouquet, bridesmaids’ posies or buttonholes yourself, we can create these for you.
If you want to do everything yourself but feel unsure where to start, we offer online demos, workshops, and an eco-floral retreat at the farm, which will guide you through all the steps of creating wedding flowers. We also support couples who want to grow some or all of their own flowers, with workshops that cover every stage of sowing and growing cut flowers.

One of the ways we keep our costs so reasonable is that we ask you to collect from us. Flowers are ready for collection from 9.30am the day before your wedding, so you have the whole day for arranging.
Get in touch with Georgie if you need advice on the number of buckets you might need for your wedding. We reserve the right to change our prices at any time.
What to expect from our flowers
We do not guarantee exact stem counts of specific varieties. But we do guarantee a balanced and beautiful mix that looks as though it’s been freshly harvested from a real garden - because it has!. Georgie will follow your colour scheme, with the occasional small contrast that helps the whole palette come alive.
We do not use flower-preserving chemicals. All flowers are supplied in water with clear care instructions. The farm is run organically, with wildlife as our most important customers. We keep pests and predators in balance and try to ensure neither hitch a lift to your wedding!
If you want to create your own arrangements using flowers grown with care, we would love to work with you.

If you need large, high-impact installations, we recommend our neighbouring florists Fleur Provocateur and Tattie Rose Studio. They are specialists in large-scale work.
Client reviews
"The biggest, most heartfelt thank you for supplying our gorgeous flowers for the wedding weekend. We had an absolute abundance, they were such high quality and so beautiful, fitted our colour scheme perfectly, and everyone had so much fun arranging bouquets, table bud vases and even an incredible mantelpiece centrepiece (with the help of my bridesmaid's mum - we were blown away!!) You were so knowledgeable and kind in your comms in the run up, and so warm and excited for us on the morning of our pickup - it set the tone for such a lovely day of preparations and getting North Cadbury Court ready for our guests!"
