Why do a workshop or demo with Common Farm Flowers?
You are welcome to join one of our workshops or demos, whether you grow for profit or pleasure, whether you are new to flower growing and / or arranging or experienced. Some workshops will be more suited to flower farmers or small business owners. It should always be clear in the workshop and demo description who the session is suitable for but if you aren’t clear please email nicola@commonfarmflowers.com and we can help.
Georgie knows that it is in her interest to teach her students everything she knows. Georgie invests time in both teaching and learning, from fellow flower farmers, gardeners and small business owners. This means every workshop or demo is grounded not only in flower farming and floristry skills, but also in practical insights about running a creative business. You’ll come away with tried-and-tested techniques, tips and tricks, inspiration and the confidence to apply what you’ve learned to your own setting, whether you grow and arrange flowers for pleasure or profit.
If you love flowers and foliage, want to increase your confidence in growing or arranging them, or simply want a creative escape whether online or at the farm, a workshop or demo with Georgie Newbery at Common Farm Flowers is well worth it.
About your teacher, Georgie Newbery
Georgie Newbery is one of the UK’s most respected artisan flower farmers and florists. A pioneer in the British cut-flower movement, she founded Common Farm Flowers in 2010 with the aim of creating a sustainable, seasonal alternative to imported flowers. Her passion is not just for growing beautiful blooms, but for teaching others how to enjoy flowers in a way that’s creative, environmentally responsible, and deeply rewarding.
As an author of books on flower farming and floristry, Georgie has inspired thousands of readers and students to bring more beauty into their lives through flowers. She is widely regarded as a generous teacher who shares her knowledge with humour, honesty, and practicality. Georgie is also recognised nationally and internationally for her expertise, which includes:
-
Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Gold Medal Winner (Chelsea)
-
Joint External Chair, Flowers from the Farm
-
Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Floristry Judge
-
Member of the RHS Dahlia Trials Committee
-
Judge for the Garden Media Guild New Talent Award
Georgie is committed to sharing her knowledge generously. She doesn’t view other flower farmers and florists as competitors but as colleagues and collaborators. Her teaching philosophy is simple: there are no secrets at a Common Farm Flowers workshop.
Common Farm Flowers
Nestled in the Somerset countryside, Common Farm Flowers is both a working flower farm and a place for creativity and learning. The farm grows a wide range of seasonal British flowers, all cultivated with wildlife, biodiversity, and soil health in mind. Every bouquet, arrangement and DIY bucket of flowers reflects the rhythm of the seasons and the joy of flowers grown naturally in the English countryside.
The farm has become a destination for flower lovers from across the UK and beyond. Whether people come for a tour or a workshop, they leave with a sense of connection to nature, as well as new creative skills, knowledge and confidence.
