Join Georgie for three days of fun and learning about creating with flowers cut fresh from the garden.  Using exclusively eco skills this no-floral foam retreat will take you through the details of cutting, conditioning, and arranging, from tiny posies to large floral installations.

Book all three days here. Or you might prefer to book individual days (linked below) - it’s entirely up to you and depends on if you have specific things you’d like to learn or if you’d like to do it all!

Here’s what we will do on each of the three days:

Day One is very much about smaller arrangements - think hand tied bouquets, brides’s bouquets, bridesmaids posies, buttonholes, floral crowns. After an introduction with Georgie you will spend the morning in the garden cutting flowers for the day.  Learn the best way to cut and condition your flowers and foliage, and learn how to plan your garden so that you can have great material for cutting throughout the season. Georgie will then demo some arranging techniques and you will spend the afternoon making posies, buttonholes, a bride’s bouquet, a flower crown…

Day Two is about larger, more ‘free flowing’ arrangements, created using no floral foam.  This could be creating what Georgie calls tablescaping, arranging pedestal vases, ribbons or cushions of flowers. Georgie will introduce the day and then we will head to the garden to cut flowers and foliage for the day ahead. We will then work small teams creating a tablescape of various arrangements, including pedestal vases using Georgie’s collection of Constance Spry vessels, posies, confetti, candles. It will be beautiful!

Day Three is the wow-factor day, when we will be creating large installations that could dress a wedding venue, garden party, indoor event…..We will be using large frames to create arches or arbours, there will be big urns and lots and lots of flowers and foliage, all cut from the garden after Georgie welcomes you to the day! In the afternoon we will work together and create something fab-u-lous! This is a day not to be missed!

The Eco Flower Retreat suits people just wanting to have fun with flowers, as well as people with more experience who want to hone their eco-floristry and styling skills. There will be plenty of opportunity to photograph the work as we create it, and Georgie has a wealth of props and vases in her studio, all of which can be used opportunistically.

Limited spaces are available - there will be a maximum of 10 people on each day of the workshop retreat.

The cost of the workshop includes all materials you will need to use on the day. All creations not made in vessels belonging to Common Farm can be taken home by the students at the end of each day. (You may wish to bring buckets or vases to transport your arrangements home in!)

The workshop takes place between 10am-3pm at Common Farm, BA9 8HN.

The cost also includes lunch at a local farm shop, so please advise us of any food allergies / intolerances at the time of booking. Please bring any mid morning / afternoon snacks you might like.

Please note that workshops at Common Farm Flowers take place in our studio barn, as well as out on the farm (where there is no cover!) Please wear clothes suitable for the weather (layers, waterproof clothes) and bring shoes / boots that are designed to walk on rough grassy paths. Even on a sunny day, flip flops and sandals aren't advised and we suggest long trousers where possible, due to the risk of ticks. A sun hat and sun protection are also advised, as we can't always stand in the shade.

Nearby Bruton and Wincanton are full of lovely places to stay to suit every budget if you wanted to stay nearby – see our links page for good ideas
