Floral treats coming up in May

The cut flower patches are filling up. The wedding season is upon us. And it’s Chelsea Flower Show this month - more of that to come in a few weeks time.
As the month begins, it’s time to share with you what’s coming up in May and how you can join Georgie online over the next few weeks.
Online Demos
Tuesday 6th May The Cutting and Conditioning Demo
To have success with flowers from your garden first you need to know how to cut and condition them successfully. Join Georgie for this online demo during which she’ll give you all her top tips for cutting and conditioning cut flowers and foliage successfully.
Tuesday 13th May The Pedestal Vase Demo
Using flowers cut that very day from her garden, Georgie will show you how you can create a stunning flower arrangement in a classic pedestal vase with no floral foam, just perfectly sustainable mechanics and fresh garden flowers.
Wednesday 14th May The Big Urn Demo
If you’ve always dreamed of creating huge urns of flowers but don’t know where to start, this is the session for you. Join Georgie as she shows you what to cut from your garden, how many stems, and how to put those stems into water to make a fantastic, huge, urn arrangement.
Wednesday 21st May The Broken Arch of Flowers Demo
Large scale floristry is possible for all if you know how to do it. Join Georgie at this new session where she’ll demonstrate creating a fashionable broken floral arch for a wedding or event. Using only simple sustainable mechanics, fresh garden flowers and foliage, and no floral foam, Georgie will talk you through all the steps you’ll need to consider if you plan to learn to make your own.
Tuesday 27th May The Flying Arch Demo
Sometimes there isn’t space for complicated mechanics, or you want to use your initiative with what you have to hand to make some wow factor floristry, which is where arranging a flying arch can create a stunning look at a wedding or event. Join Georgie as she shows you how to create a stunning floral arch using beams and buckets and pieces of string as well as lovely flowers and foliage cut straight from her garden.
Tuesday 3rd June The Flower Crown Demo
Flower crowns can be for all kinds of occasions so join Georgie as she shows you how to create a crown with fresh flowers from her garden. Georgie’s crowns are fully biodegradable, relatively quick to make and fun to wear. So whether you are planning to walk down the aisle in a flower crown you’ve made yourself, or you’re off to Glastonbury in a week or three, this is an inspiring session after which you too can rustle up a flower crown whenever you feel the need for one.

Common Farm Flowers Club - live Club Chat Sessions
If you’re a paid subscriber on Substack then you automatically join our Common Farm Flowers Club and one of the perks of that is being able to join our live Club Chats on a Thursday at 5pm. Here’s what’s coming up in May:
8th May - our regular session on self-care, with a focus on pacing yourself, or achieving more by doing less - something we could probably all do with?
15th May - with the Chelsea Flower Show almost upon us, we’ll chat about if you’re planning to be a flower show exhibitor and why it’s worth doing this
22nd May - Georgie will be freshly returned from being both an exhibitor and a judge at Chelsea so it’s time for our annual Chelsea Flower Show Chat
See our full summer timetable of Club Chats here.
