List of topics for our summer term of Live At Five sessions

If you’re a paid subscriber on Substack then you automatically join our Common Farm Flowers Club. There are many perks to the club - discounts on website orders, being part of the chat group here on Substack, club only posts , videos and podcasts and our fabulous Live At Five sessions.
These sessions take place most Thursdays (at 5pm) during term time on Substack. So that’s at least 30 hour-long sessions a year where Georgie shares her knowledge and experience with you on various topics. These topics are usually suggested by Clubbers, but we also try to do an online demo each term, as well as one session that we refer to as our ‘Book Club’ and another on self care for gardeners, florists and flower farmers. We held 11 sessions last term - all of which are available to catch up on at any time, should you wish to join the club.
For an investment of about £5 or $8 a month (if you pay annually), we hope you agree that these sessions, along with the other club perks, make a paid Substack subscription well worth it.
Our new term begins this week and so we thought timely to share with you what’s coming up over the next few weeks:

With British Flowers Week coming up (16th to 22nd June) let’s talk about how you can use the prompts given you by your industry to help your own PR and marketing – having an open day for example, or an exhibition, or…..
8th May
Time for our regular session on self-care, with a focus on pacing yourself, or achieving more by doing less - something we could probably all do with?
15th May
With the Chelsea Flower Show almost upon us, let’s talk about if you’re planning to be a flower show exhibitor and why it’s worth doing this
22nd May
Georgie will be freshly returned from being both an exhibitor and a judge at Chelsea so it’s time for our annual Chelsea Flower Show Chat
29th May
Mid term break
5th June
Our topic this week is curating your cut flower patch, how to choose from among the millions of varieties of flowers for cutting which you could grow
12th June
Book Club
19th June
We are very excited to be hosting a conversation this week with our guest, Francesca McGarey (branding, social media)
26th June
As is tradition, our last session of the term will be a general Q&A and end of term chat before we break for the summer holidays
As you can see, we mix things up as much as we can, from the topics suggested to us. While some may feel very ‘flower farmer or florist’ specific there is much that we talk about that can be applied to the growing and enjoyment of cut flowers for those of us - me included - who grow for pleasure!
We hope to see you this Thursday 5pm here on Substack for our first session!
