September dates for your diary

September dates for your diary

It’s almost time for the live club chats and our schedule of workshops and demos to return.

The summer has been far from quiet - I’ve lost count of how many weddings and events Georgie has done and it’s always a busy time for me (Nicola) as, we start planning the teaching schedule for the new year in the summer months (we’ve even put our 2026 meeting date to plan for 2027 in the diary, we’ve been THAT organised!) But it will be lovely to return to the rhythm that the demos and live chats bring to the working week.

Here’s what we have coming up in September:

Thursday 4th September - Live Club Chat, The club chat is back at 5pm, with a general Q&A to start the new term. (You can join the club here, by becoming a paid subscriber here on Substack.)

Tuesday 9th September The Dahlia Hand Tie Demo online - Georgie will demonstrate how you can take your dahlias from your garden (with a discussion on their particular demands when cutting and conditioning them) and put these gorgeous blooms centre stage in your cut flower arrangements.

Tuesday 16th September The Pricing Cut Flowers To Sell Workshop online - a must do for those growing (or considering growing) cut flowers and foliage for sale. In a market demanding beautifully presented, locally grown flowers, this workshop ensures you will compete with imported flowers on the strength of local quality and presentation, while making a profit on every stem.

Thursday 18th September - Live Club Chat - a chance to ‘meet the team’ at the start of the new term! We thought it was time we introduced ourselves properly in a club chat session, find out more about our backgrounds, how we came to work together and so on - a chance for your to ping us any questions and find out more!

Tuesday 23rd September The Sweet Pea Demo online - join Georgie for this demo and get ahead with sweet peas sowing for your next crop! Georgie will chat through the varieties she's planning to grow nex year, the best way to prepare the ground, how many to sow, how often to sow, how many flowers per plant you can expect, how to achieve long stems, and how long can you expect the plants to go on flowering.

Thursday 25th September- Live Club Chat - our first of three guests this term, the most fantastic Jack Wallington will be joining us for this very special session, where we will talk about how the natural world is being taken from us and how gardens are a place that can help us reconnect with nature. Jack is an expert in using peat free compost so will have some great tips for getting the best out of this growing medium and a book out in the autumn called Stolen Reality and we always love talking books so we’ll ask him all about this one too. We can’t wait for this session!

Tuesday 30th September The Foliage For Floristry Demo online - join Georgie for this session and she will give you the confidence to cut a wide selection of foliage from your garden, and inspire you to plant more to make a really useful collection which will give both your garden and your floristry a real wow factor.

And a reminder about one October date

A reminder as well about our 3 day Flower Farming Intensive Workshop coming up in October, at the farm, in case you’re considering coming along!

Here’s what some previous students said about the workshop:

“Just completed the Flower Farming Intensive Workshop. Georgie's wealth of knowledge and experience made the workshop invaluable. I am beginning my flower farming journey, but my fellow 'learners' have developed businesses and Georgie encompassed our, very diverse, knowledge with consummate aplomb. I left feeling empowered with much food for thought... onwards and upwards!!”

“Brilliant 3 days at the farm with the team visiting & revisiting the nuts & bolts of running a real flower farming & artisan floristry business. Good pace, enormous amounts of practical information shared & the right amount of ‘doing’ to bring home key points on organisation & budgeting of both time & resources. Plenty of individual inspiration & support. Excellent number of students in group & what a lovely bunch! Delicious no faff lunches from a local farm shop.”
