Join Georgie at the farm in 2026

Join Georgie at the farm in 2026

We are less than two months away from our first workshop at the farm in 2026. Hard to imagine, when we are currently deep in freezing cold temperatures, frost and potential snow forecasts but by early March the farm will be waking up and we will be very excited to welcome our first in-person guests of 2026.

A few reminders about our sessions at the farm:

  • We will only be running all of these sessions once in 2026 - so what you see here is it for face to face days at the farm.

  • We keep the numbers really small, just 10 people (other than the farm tour, which we cap at 20) We are already a third full on most of these dates so please don’t pause on booking for too long if you are interested in any of them.

  • Each day will begin with arrivals from 9:30am, with the workshops starting at 10am and finishing around 4pm each day. (The exception to this is the farm tour, which lasts 2 hours and starts at 2pm.)

  • All our full day sessions include lunch at our fabulous local farm shop, just down the road!

  • We have the option to pay in instalments for our 3 day workshops. More details on our workshop pages, linked below.

  • Accommodation is not included but there are plenty of lovely places to stay close to Common Farm Flowers, if needed.

  • If you’re a paid subscriber on Substack you can get 10% discount on any of our workshops, so it’s well worth considering joining up if you’re thinking of booking any of the sessions below!

If you’ve any other questions please just pop them in the comments below and we will answer them as soon as we get chance.

The Introduction to Flower Farming Workshop

(Also available online if you can’t make it to Somerset)

Taking place on Tuesday 3rd March, this workshop will help you turn your dream of flower farming into reality. Over the day, you’ll cover growing flowers for sale and profit, designing your flower farm and planning your flower farming year and social media and marketing for flower growers.

Suitable for anyone exploring the idea of turning their love of flower growing into a business or in the early days of their flower farming career.

“I joined Georgie for her marvellous workshop and it was as informative, inspiring and energising as I had hoped it would be! I’ve come away with so much to take forward and action, to give my business and flowers the best start possible. Georgie is so open and honest in her teaching and I’ve learned so much in just one day.”

The Lifestyle Business Retreat

Tuesday 17th, Wednesday 18th, Thursday 19th March

New for 2026, the lifestyle business retreat is a 3 day retreat on 17th, 18th and 19th March. It’s aimed at small business founders (and those who’d like to be) who want to step away from the daily whirlwind, take stock, and return with clarity, direction, and energy.

Day 1 will be led by Georgie Newbery, a flower farmer, author, and small business mentor, day 2 by Francesca McGarey, a branding, marketing, and social media expert and day 3 by Alice Armstrong Scales, a personal development coach.

This retreat is for anyone who wants to:

  • Step away from being ‘always busy’ and move toward calm productivity.

  • Reframe how they run their small business, not for growth at any cost, but for balance and meaning.

  • Start or further develop a lifestyle business with clarity, confidence, and practical tools.

Whether you’re already running a business or just dreaming one up, these three days will give you the structure, systems, and energy to make it work for you.

The Eco Floristry Retreat

Admiring work created by students on the eco floristry retreat last year

Release your inner garden florist at this glorious 1, 2 or 3 day retreat (16th, 17th and 18th June) at Common Farm Flowers! Imagine having three acres of flowers from which to cut. Imagine learning all about harvesting flowers, conditioning, and then creating with them. Imagine giving yourself time in which to do all this: time for yourself, time to nurture your creativity, time to learn how your passion for flowers needn’t cost the earth.

On day 1, 16th June we will focus on smaller arrangements - namely hand tied bouquets and bridal party flowers. Day 2 (17th June) is all about table centre flowers and day 3 (18th June) is where we create large floral installations.

We welcome a variety of people onto this retreat, from enthusiastic amateur florist to pros who wants to refine their sustainable floristry skills.

“I attended the 3 day Eco Floristry Retreat and this was the most positive of experiences. Georgie is an incredible teacher, mentor, and font of all knowledge. Georgie makes you feel relaxed and welcome as soon as you walk through the flower farm gates. We had the run of the garden to draw inspiration from which was an incredible experience. You will leave full of contentment after the 3 days, with valuable new skills, and a warm feeling that you have had the best time at Common Farm. Thoroughly recommend.”

The Flower Farm Tour

The wildflower meadows are simply breathtaking in June - hard to do them justice in a photograph!

Join us for a 2 hour tour of the farm on Friday 19th June, and enjoy the beautiful wildflower meadows, as well as the polytunnels bursting with annuals and biennials, and a kilometre of metre wide beds planted up for a long season of flowers. The tour takes two hours and includes plenty of time for questions as this is not your average pleasure garden, but a working space where time is needed to explain bed management, sowing schedules, pruning and mulching, as well as how we react to infestations of slugs or thrip or greenfly.

“A thoroughly enjoyable and interesting tour of the flower farm. Georgie and Fabrizio are both so welcoming and knowledgeable. What they have achieved with Common Farm is extremely admirable. It was so lovely to see a flower farm with no regimented lines or acres of black membrane, just naturalistic, well thought out growing spaces with biodiversity at the core. Thank you for a lovely afternoon.”

The Flower Farming Intensive Workshop

The Flower Farming Intensive workshop is a three day workshop, taking place at the farm on Tuesday 6th, Wednesday 7th, Thursday 8th October, which ultimately aims to help you grow your flower farming business.

In brief, this is what we will cover over the 3 days: land management and growing practice for a flower and foliage crop you can rely on, business planning and marketing, cutting and conditioning your crop, and floristry.

The workshop is suitable for people who’ve some experience of growing flowers for sale, but who want to refine their processes, strategise to optimise their time and their crop growing, make more of their land, and make sure they are taking advantage of many different possibilities for earning which flower farming offers.

“Great 3 days spent with the inspiring Georgie learning about how to run our own flower business. Georgie was generous with her time, experience, knowledge and flowers. Another bonus which I hadn't realised would be of such value was meeting other attendees to keep in touch with & share the experience.

Georgie did a fantastic job of ensuring that the course was tailored to meet all our needs at a pace that allowed lots of questions as well as being practical and hands on. Lots of relevant information that is just not available anywhere else that builds confidence and helps your structure your business from every angle. Highly recommended.”
