Workshops and retreats at Common Farm Flowers, with Georgie Newbery
I’ve been lucky enough to be at the farm for two of the retreats that have happened there this year. They were two very different retreats but both were bursting with energy and learning, sharing of knowledge and wonderful people. (I was at Day 3 of the Eco Floristry Retreat and Day 2 of the inaugural Lifestyle Business Retreat). My experience is reflected in the consistent 5 star reviews Georgie receives for the workshops and retreats she offers at the farm (apart from that time it rained and we lost a star!)
Now, as we come to the end of our summer term of sessions (almost - there’s still one to come!) I want to look ahead and let you know what is still to come at the farm in 2026. And since deciding this was going to be the topic of this newsletter we’ve actually added lots of in-person dates for 2027 too - so I am just going to share the full list here!
Useful things to know
-
We are holding our 2026 prices for now for any early 2027 bookings. We meet in August to look at 2027 and prices may possibly go up after that.
-
Paid subscribers here on Substack get 10% discount on all our website listings - well worth taking out a subscription if you’re planning to book on any of these sessions
-
We can arrange for you to pay in instalments for the 3 day workshops and retreats - drop me an email nicola@commonfarmflowers.com and I can arrange that with you
-
All these sessions usually only take place once a year. Places are limited to 8 for the lifestyle business retreat and 10 for all other workshops and retreats. The farm tour is limited to 20. We had people on waiting lists this year - so avoid missing out by booking sooner rather than later for any of these dates (We’ve already got people booked onto all of them - some very organised readers out there, thank you!)
Here’s when you can join us at the farm over the next 12 months
The Flower Farming Intensive Workshop (3 days) Tuesday 6th, Wednesday 7th, Thursday 8th October 2026
Join Georgie for 3 days looking at land management and growing practice for a flower and foliage crop you can rely on, business planning and marketing, cutting and conditioning your crop, and floristry. Ideal for people who’ve some experience of growing flowers for sale, who want to refine their processes, strategise to optimise their time and their crop growing, make more of their land, and make sure they are taking advantage of many different possibilities for earning which flower farming offers.
The Lifestyle Business Retreat Tuesday 17th, Wednesday 18th, Thursday 19th November 2026
A 3 day retreat for small business founders (and those who’d like to be) who want to step away from the daily whirlwind, take stock, and return with clarity, direction, and energy, exploring:
-
Your objectives and defining what ‘enough’ looks like for you.
-
Building the habits and mindset to keep your progress steady and sustainable.
-
Building the identity and voice that markets your business, even when you’re not.
Georgie delivers this retreat alongside colleagues Alice Armstrong Scales (incredibly experienced personal development coach) and Francesca McGarey (a marketing strategist specialising in sustainable systems for small businesses).
The retreat is for a range of people - not just flower farmers. All welcome!
The Introduction to Flower Farming Workshop Tuesday 16th March 2027
Join Georgie for a day looking at what it takes to become a person who grows flowers for sale, during which Georgie will share the skills and strategies she’s learned over the last 16 years. This is the perfect starting point for anyone who is exploring the idea of turning their love of flower growing into a business.
The Eco Floristry Retreat (3 days) Tuesday 15th, Wednesday 16th, Thursday 17th June 2027
We had a GLORIOUS time at the retreat in mid June 2026 and know that 2027 will be equally glorious because this retreat always is! Join Georgie and over the 3 days you will get to cut and condition enormous quantities of flowers and foliage from the farm, which you will then use to create hand tied bouquets and bridal party flowers, table centres and floral tablescaping and larger installations, including floral arches, big urns and meadow boxes.
At the moment, we’ve got it listed on the website as a 3 day retreat, but if you are only interested in one of the days let me know nicola@commonfarmflowers.com as this may well be possible to arrange. But, of course, we highly recommend coming along for the full 3 days if you can!
Here’s some of the work created on Day 3 of the retreat this year.
The Flower Farm Tour Friday 18th June 2027
Whilst it may seem a long, long way ahead, our tour in June 2026 sold out early and we’ve already sold several places for 2027. So if you’d like to come and spend a couple of hours with Georgie and Fabrizio, learning more about how we farm at Common Farm and why we do things the way we do, take a look at our website and book this event sooner rather than later to be sure of your place. It’s the time of year when the meadows at the farm look stunning and the roses are in full bloom - absolute bliss, but with lots of learning along the way too!
