Georgie Newbery will show you the essentials for creating a successful cut flower patch on this online workshop.

Find out how to cut the space up, how to create lush soil which your plants will love, what to plant and where, top tips for varieties and percentage use of space per kind of plant.

Do you need a greenhouse or tunnel?  Where should you put it?  What would make a good wind break?  How much foliage will you need?  Which are the best accent flowers, filler and foliage to grow?  Do you need a lot of room? Georgie will take you through all these questions, with a tour through her own cut flower patches and some sketched designs to help inspire you to create a cut flower garden in your own space.

Georgie has been growing cut flowers for bouquets for 11 years.  She started on a space about the dimensions of a good sized allotment, and now grows in four patches covering about three and a half acres.  She knows the most important varieties to plant, and how much room to the square metre that plants need.  Let her inspire you to start creating your cut flower patch ready for a bounty of flowers all summer long next year.

Lasting around two hours, the workshop has space for just 15 participants and costs £95 per person, which includes a link to the recorded session and notes to remind you of the design priorities Georgie has identified.

Please note:

When booking a workshop place, our website will force you to choose a delivery date. Please choose any random date - we will know what workshop you want to join regardless of the delivery date!

Also note that we will be in touch a few days before the workshop with your joining instructions. If you’ve not received this email 48 hours beforehand please email nicola@commonfarmflowers.com but do please first check your junk / spam items and make sure you are checking the inbox of the email address you used to book your place.

We will send recordings (and notes if applicable) of workshops within 7 days of the session taking place, but usually much sooner than this.

What can you expect when you order our flowers?

Most of our flowers and foliage are grown on our flower farm in Somerset. During some of the winter months we order flowers from our flower farming friends in other parts of the country. We only ever use British grown flowers. Our flowers are cut from the farm fresh each morning, before being arranged and sent for next day delivery.

Because our flowers are picked fresh each day, each of our bouquets is totally unique. Although we can't guarantee a particular flower or colour scheme in your bouquet please let us know if you have any particular requests and we will do our best to meet them. We promise that your bouquet will be fresh and beautiful.
